White House Allegedly Inquires Whether Zelenskyy Will Wear A Suit for Meeting

White House’s Request to Zelensky Over Trump Meeting

The White House has reached out to Ukrainian officials to inquire if President Volodymyr Zelensky would consider filing a lawsuit regarding a meeting with President Donald Trump, according to two sources who spoke to Axios.

Zelensky, known for his casual and military-style attire during official visits, is reportedly opting for the same black jacket he wore during the NATO summit back in June. Trump has previously expressed frustration over Zelensky’s choice of clothing, particularly when the Ukrainian president declined to don formal attire for their visit, which might have been a minor factor in the tense exchange they had in February.

While the administration would prefer Zelensky to wear a full suit, it seems they aren’t expecting him to wear a tie. Sources indicated that this might be a non-issue, as interpretations of appropriateness can vary.

The White House has not yet commented on this situation.

Authorities also shared that they hope the upcoming meeting won’t regress to the contentious nature of the previous encounter in February. They noted that Zelensky and his team traveled long distances, and that the atmosphere could be different this time around.

Zelensky is set to be accompanied by a considerable team of advisors as they meet to discuss the ongoing war, particularly in light of Trump’s recent conversation with Putin. Trump has previously mentioned to Ukrainian leaders that he has set aside his ambitions to join NATO and has reclaimed Crimea. Yet, it seems that many details about these discussions still remain undisclosed.
