Rep. Ro Khanna on National Guard Presence in D.C.
During Saturday’s “Weekend” segment on MSNBC, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) expressed concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s authority over the National Guard in Washington, D.C.
Jonathan Cape Hart posed a question: “Rep., there are about 2,000 National Guard troops from several Republican states in D.C. The Secretary of Defense has authorized them to be armed. Are the mayors involved?”
Khanna responded, “You’re right, Jonathan. Republicans often champion local control and federalism. What Donald Trump truly seems to desire is more power akin to that of a mayor. It’s reminiscent of Putin claiming land from Ukraine.”
