Los Angeles ICE detains over 5,000 undocumented immigrants in June, including the most dangerous offenders.

Since June, over 5,000 undocumented immigrants have been apprehended in the Los Angeles region, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This number includes individuals labeled as some of the most dangerous offenders.

The DHS has identified detainees from several countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, South Korea, Vietnam, China, and Eritrea.

“The enforcement actions from DHS have resulted in more than 5,000 arrests in Los Angeles. This means that over 5,000 criminally illegal individuals, including gang members and child predators, have been taken off the streets. A valuable life has been saved through these actions,” a DHS spokesperson stated.

Some of those arrested have prior convictions for serious crimes such as murder, theft, and sexual abuse, including offenses against children.

“American families are now safer. Taxpayers are relieved from the associated costs of crime. We thank the courageous law enforcement officers. Let it be clear: If you are here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and deport you. This is just the beginning,” the spokesperson added.

Among those apprehended was Diego Fernandez Martinez, a Mexican national with a record of carjacking, vehicle theft, and drug-related offenses. DHS noted he is affiliated with the Surenos gang.

In another case, Juan Carlos Marin Holito from Mexico, who was convicted of murder, is serving a 50-year prison sentence.

Jaime Salinana Rodriguez, also from Mexico, is a registered sex offender who received a 16-year prison term for the ongoing sexual abuse of a child.

Martina Zacharias, another Mexican national, is also a convicted sex offender, sentenced to eight years for inappropriate conduct with a child under 14.

Edgar Isaac Lopez, who hails from Mexico, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and child cruelty.

Omar Guzman Rodriguez, a registered sex offender from Mexico, has a lengthy criminal history, including robbery and possessing stolen property.

Joel Benjamin Reyes from El Salvador has been convicted of first-degree rape for his actions involving coercion and incest.

Johannes Zelai, from Eritrea, is a registered sex offender found guilty of robbery and severe battery, also facing charges related to assault.

Justin Chung, a citizen of South Korea, received a 75-year sentence for his murder conviction.

Quoc Dung Pham, from Vietnam, is a registered sex offender sentenced to 64 years for offenses including robbery and assault with intent to commit rape.

Additionally, his brother Bo Quoc Pham, also a registered sex offender, received a staggering 118-year sentence for multiple offenses related to sexual assault.

A Chinese woman named Hong Jin has been found guilty of driving under the influence and involvement in sex trafficking.

This wave of arrests coincides with a federal crackdown on immigration that began in June. It has stirred considerable local unrest and protests against ICE actions and the broader deportation efforts tied to the previous administration.
