Criticism of ABC News by Former Correspondent Terry Moran
Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran voiced strong criticism of his past employer on Thursday, arguing that Disney-owned media and others are “failing Americans” due to their fear of President Donald Trump.
After nearly 28 years at ABC News, Moran was let go in June 2025 following a social media post where he attacked Trump and White House aide Stephen Miller. He expressed on a podcast that his old colleague “doesn’t meet the moment,” suggesting that corporate media is out of touch in today’s landscape.
“The businesses I’ve been part of—network news, corporate media, legacy media, you name it—are causing failures for Americans,” Moran expressed in an interview. He criticized corporate pressure that leads to restrictions on what journalists are allowed to say or explain. “The facts they see have been ignored in their coverage, and I believe they are denying the American people the truth,” he added.
Moran mentioned that he aimed to articulate his views in a way that some journalists can’t, calling out ABC News in particular. “Disney is a massive corporation, and ABC is just a small part of that empire. In corporate offices, there’s a fear that someone in news might tweet something controversial,” he noted.
“This pressure does not benefit anyone,” he added. ABC News has not yet responded to requests for comment.
In discussions with host Philip DeFranco, Moran reflected on his career at ABC News, stating he had no regrets about his social media post that effectively ended his time there, referring to Trump and Miller as “hate.” His dismissal came just weeks after he interviewed Trump during a special segment on the president’s first 100 days in office, where he faced criticism for various questions posed.
Recently, Moran acknowledged that his longtime employer exhibited a bias against Trump, highlighting a tension in how news is covered.
