ICE Arrests Violent Criminals Despite Government Shutdown
This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made several arrests, targeting individuals with serious criminal backgrounds, including child predators and murderers. This information comes from a recent press release from the Department of Homeland Security.
In the announcement, it was emphasized that ICE is not letting the current government shutdown impede their efforts to remove dangerous illegal aliens from communities across the U.S. The statement noted, “Nothing, not even a Democratic government shutdown, will slow ICE down.”
Among those arrested was Sergio Ivan Martinez, a 30-year-old child sex offender from Mexico, found living in Dallas, Texas. His previous convictions stem from aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by contact, offenses committed in early 2014, resulting in a probation sentence.
Chai Jungle Ha, an illegal alien from Laos, was also apprehended. He had a history of murder and assault with intent to cause bodily harm, previously recorded in Flint, Michigan.
Another individual, Jose Andres Gomez Matarita, entered U.S. illegally from Costa Rica and has a criminal record involving strangulation and second-degree kidnapping in North Carolina.
Additionally, ICE detained Enzo David Fernandez-Morales from Venezuela, who had been convicted of engaging in organized crime in Texas.
Leonardo Estupinan-Nazareno, an Ecuadorian national, was arrested in Weston, Florida, facing charges related to cocaine importation.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that the ongoing government shutdown will not disrupt ICE’s mission to eliminate threats from the streets. She described the individuals arrested as “pedophiles, murderers, and drug traffickers,” asserting that they pose a danger to American citizens. “These criminal illegal aliens have no business remaining in this country and terrorizing innocent Americans,” she added.
