Joe Biden Reflects on America’s Challenges

Former President Joe Biden has characterized the current state of the United States as facing “dark days.” During a ceremony where he received the Edward M. Kennedy Senate Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, he expressed that these times represent “the worst” he’s encountered throughout his extensive political career. He asserted, “In my view, our very democracy is at stake.”

“Folks, I have no explanations for this. These are dark days,” Biden emphasized.

Interestingly, Senator Joe Manchin commented that Biden’s inauguration was a key moment squandered by the “far left,” who had significant influence over him.

Despite the dire outlook, some Democrats argue that the U.S. has historically emerged stronger after each crisis. Biden expressed optimism, believing America will “come out stronger, smarter, more resilient and more just” if citizens keep the faith. He encouraged Americans to “fight like hell.”

The lifetime achievement award acknowledges Biden’s impressive political journey, which spans 36 years as a senator, eight years as vice president under Barack Obama, and four years as president. Before his federal roles, he also served on the New Castle County Legislature in Delaware.

Biden made history earlier this year by becoming the oldest president in U.S. history, retiring at the age of 82.
