Rihanna recently reacted to a security guard who let a door close on her, and it definitely made waves online.
The 37-year-old artist was exiting the Four Seasons hotel in New York City when a staff member pushed through the door and continued on without a glance back.
As the door nearly shut on her, she paused, pushed it open, and quipped, “You’re such a gentleman, aren’t you?” There was a playful tone in her voice as she laughed and followed him to his vehicle.
Fans took to social media over the weekend, some demanding the guard be reprimanded, even suggesting Rihanna should “fire” him.
One user even joked, “Last day of work, champion,” while another pointed out the apparent lack of attentiveness from the guard: “If he wasn’t paying attention to the door, how could he protect her?”
On the flip side, some fans seemed to criticize Rihanna, saying she needed to take care of herself in these situations. “Does she have no hands?” one user asked, while another advised, “She should have held her head up and grabbed the door. Famous or not, always look out for yourself.”
Rihanna’s team didn’t immediately respond to requests for clarification on the incident.
Meanwhile, she’s been quite active this week, showing support for her partner A$AP Rocky’s newly released album, “Don’t Be Damn.” The two have been together since late 2019 and share three children: RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and Rocky, who is just 4 months old.
The couple attended A$AP’s launch party, both sporting stylish bomber jackets, and she was also seen at the “Saturday Night Live” afterparty where he performed.
Interestingly, their relationship blossomed after a long friendship, encouraged by Rocky’s mother, who sensed the connection before they officially dated. Rocky mentioned, “My mother used to say, ‘I know you like this girl.'” He added a humorous note about how he perhaps wasn’t ready for a committed relationship until later.
