FEMA Prepares for Major Winter Storm Affecting Over 30 States
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced airport closures nationwide, impacting locations such as Harry Reid International, John Wayne, and San Diego International Airports. Experts in weather and air traffic are diligently monitoring the storm to ensure safe travel.
In a video shared by the FAA, Air Traffic Warden Joshua Jennings detailed the safety measures being implemented, which include snow removal and de-icing of aircraft. The FAA also recommends checking its website for the latest updates on airport statuses.
Winter Storm Spans Over 3,300 Miles
This winter storm stretches across more than 3,300 miles, affecting areas from New Mexico to Maine, and has led to weather warnings across the nation. More than 190 million Americans are currently under some form of winter weather alert, marking a record for the highest number of counties affected at once, as reported by FOX Weather.
On Friday, the national weather bureau urged those in the storm’s path to take precautions, advising people to “avoid travel if possible.”
President Donald Trump shared the weather bureau’s message on Truth Social, emphasizing that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is prepared to assist. “We are being briefed on the record cold and historic winter storm that will hit much of the United States this weekend. The Trump Administration is coordinating with state and local officials,” he stated, adding, “Stay safe and stay warm!”
