Brewer against ICE expresses desire for Trump’s death, vows free beer if it happens soon, prompting attention from Secret Service

Controversial Statements from Wisconsin Brewery Owner

Kirk Bangstad, who runs the Minocqua Brewing Company in Wisconsin, has openly expressed his disdain for President Donald Trump, conservatives, and anyone with differing political views. His comments have often been pretty provocative, aligning with a more progressive agenda.

This year, Bangstad faced a major legal setback when he was ordered to pay over $750,000 due to a defamation case related to his statements made during a period of heightened tension following an assassination of a political figure. He had infamously posted, “Fuck Charlie Kirk,” shortly after the incident, adding later, “May his soul never find rest.”

His inflammatory remarks don’t end there. Bangstad once promised, “Free beer all day long on the day he dies. Show me this post in a few months and I’ll keep my promise.” These kinds of declarations, reminiscent of marketing tactics used by companies like Ben & Jerry’s, have caught considerable public attention. Recently, he made a chilling post that hinted at a desire for the president’s demise.

Following a controversial “wanted” poster he circulated that called for “regime change” in the United States, Bangstad stated, “It’s only a matter of time before all ICE officers face justice.” On January 22, he reiterated that his brewery would be giving away free beer in celebration on the day of Trump’s death.

When approached for comments, Bangstad seemed to acknowledge he was indeed referring to Trump, suggesting plans for a “party to celebrate the impending death of a twice-impeached and convicted felon.”

In addition to his provocative rhetoric, Bangstad initiated efforts to prevent Trump from appearing on the ballot in Wisconsin. He did not address specific inquiries from media directly; instead, he accused them of state propaganda and encouraged followers to voice their opinions to the reporters.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed awareness of Bangstad’s social media activity but did not disclose any operational details, citing safety concerns.

Critics have reacted strongly to his posts, with some questioning how it is possible to share a country with people harboring such extreme views. A recent survey showed a concerning sentiment among some self-identified leftists regarding the justification of violence against political figures, further highlighting the divisive climate.

Bangsat has also come under fire for alleged misappropriation of funds raised through his super PAC, with accusations that money intended for political efforts was used to pay brewery staff. A former employee voiced concerns about the legitimacy of the payments, prompting deeper investigations into the brewery’s financing practices.

This entire situation underscores a complex and often concerning interplay between political engagement and the brewing industry—one where deep-seated animosities and financial dealings create a tense atmosphere of contradictions and confusion.
