Texas Senate Race Heats Up with Controversial Remarks

Influencer Morgan Thompson, known on TikTok as @morga_tt, alleged that in a private conversation, Talarico had said he “applied to run for a mediocre black man, not a formidable and intelligent black woman.” This accusation has stirred quite the conversation.

Crockett’s Stance and Reactions

Talarico’s comments reportedly aimed at former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, a Democratic candidate for the Senate in 2024, who has since suspended his campaign. Allred, who was vying for a second consecutive term before pulling out just as Crockett entered the race, shares a racial background with Crockett, while Talarico is white.

Defending his earlier statement, Talarico emphasized that he praised Crockett while criticizing Allred’s campaign methods, stating that his life and achievements are commendable, and he would never attack someone based on their race.

Allred responded to Talarico, suggesting that if he truly wanted to uplift black women, he should do so without disparaging black men. Allred has since shifted to run for Congress in Texas’ 33rd District against fellow Democrat Julie Johnson.
