Grandmother Defends Trump at Black History Month Event
Foresia Cook, a grandmother, stirred attention at a White House reception for Black History Month when she lauded President Donald Trump’s anti-crime measures.
She urged critics to reconsider their views on the president and expressed gratitude for the federal troops he sent to Washington, D.C., to address crime issues.
“When will she run for office? Mr. Foresia, when will she run? You have my support,” Cook declared. “I appreciate that I can trust him to be straightforward about how he feels.” The audience responded with loud applause.
Cook continued, “Thank God for this president! My cup is overflowing! He allowed people to come to my house to discuss the murder of my grandson. No one seemed to care before.” She noted, “Democrats, no one listened to me until this Republican came.” Cook said she had been invited by Trump to testify before Congress in favor of his crime policies.
“I love him, and I don’t want to hear anything negative about racism directed at him,” she insisted. “And don’t watch me on the news and hate me because I’m supporting someone who deserves to be supported. Let him do his job! He’s doing the right thing!” She ended with, “Grandma said so too!”
After her heartfelt remarks, Trump playfully suggested that Cook should run for office. “When will she run? Foresia, you have my backing,” he said.
Later, Trump honored the late activist Jesse Jackson, referring to him as a “true hero” with real “street smarts.”
Cook’s grandson, Marty William McMillan Jr., was fatally shot in 2017. The individual responsible was sentenced to 16 years for voluntary manslaughter and evidence tampering.
