Controversy in South Texas Schools Over Death Threats
In South Texas, an ongoing controversy is brewing regarding multiple death threats in schools, alongside perceived inaction from local authorities and attempts at concealment. This issue has gained traction as more parents step forward, identifying their children as victims.
Breitbart Texas initially reported this week that Araceli de los Santos, the principal of Edinburg’s Flores Zapata School, allegedly attempted to cover up a significant incident where a female student received death threats. Local attorney Octavia Labon Martinez, representing the victim’s family, claimed that de los Santos instructed the perpetrator to erase the video documenting the threat but did not take decisive actions to ensure student safety. The victim’s parents have repeatedly contacted the police, yet the case is still under the jurisdiction of Edinburg CISD.
Despite being informed that the situation was resolved, de los Santos and school counselor Lisette Garza continued to reassure the victim’s parents. However, the threats only intensified, with the aggressor visiting the victim’s home and threatening her life directly.
A committee hearing held by the local school board shed light on the situation, revealing that as many as seven girls had either received death threats or faced bullying from the same individual.
In a conversation with a parent of an autistic daughter who was also targeted, Breitbart Texas learned that the victim received various video and audio threats. The parent recounted an audio message where the perpetrator labeled the victim a “snitch” and ominously warned her, “You’re dead… (with some foul language).”
Furthermore, Breitbart Texas spoke with the parents of a second-grade student in the same district who had also been threatened in a different incident. The parents expressed their frustration, stating that school authorities had ignored their concerns and attempted to downplay the issue. They mentioned that their son was continuously threatened with being thrown out of a school window, despite their ongoing reports to school officials.
