Oprah Winfrey Responds to Online Critics Over Her Walk at Paris Fashion Week
Oprah Winfrey recently addressed online criticism regarding her walking style during Paris Fashion Week, where some commentators described her movement as resembling that of a “90-year-old.” In a video clip posted on Instagram, she mentioned how people are quick to criticize others online, saying, “Look at them walking like they’re 90 years old.”
She elaborated on the situation, recalling the moment she entered the Chloé fashion show. Her assistant had handed her a pair of sunglasses just before she got out of the car but clarified they weren’t prescription glasses. “I didn’t know where I was walking. I couldn’t see,” she explained while laughing. She went on to say, “I was telling the guard, ‘I can’t see. Where do I walk?’”
Winfrey’s friend Gail chimed in, stating, “I’ve got two broken toes. I can’t walk.” Oprah humorously noted that their perceived “90-year-old” walk stemmed from her inability to see and Gail’s injuries.
The audience seemed to find humor in the situation, with fans expressing their amusement in the comments. One person highlighted her friendliness, saying, “She’s really nice and funny,” while another joked about her blindness at the event.
Earlier this month, Winfrey made a noticeable impression at Paris Fashion Week, presenting a slimmer physique. She arrived at the Chloé runway show wearing high-waisted jeans, a cream top, and a brown jacket, complemented by Chloe sunglasses, a white handbag, and stylish heels, topped off with her hair in a high ponytail.
She shared that since the beginning of 2023, she has been taking GLP-1 weight loss medication after attempting various diets and approaches, including joining Weight Watchers. Reflecting on her past struggles with weight, she acknowledged it was linked to obesity, a term she used to avoid.
Winfrey remarked, “I want people to know that if obesity runs in your family, it’s not your fault.” She emphasized the importance of not blaming oneself for genetic and circumstantial factors beyond their control, encouraging informed choices regarding medications or diets.
Since starting the GLP-1 treatment, she feels more in control of her cravings and has noticed a calmer mental state.
