Trump Urges Israel to Cease Strikes on Iran's South Pars Gas Field

Trump’s Comments on Israel’s Attack on Iran’s Gas Field

President Donald Trump stated that there would be “no further attacks” from Israel following reports of an Israeli strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that the United States “had no knowledge of this particular attack,” emphasizing that Qatar “was not involved” at all. He claimed that Iran “unjustly and unjustifiably attacked some LNG gas facilities in Qatar” because it mistakenly thought Qatar was part of the conflict.

“Israel, out of frustration with the situation in the Middle East, launched a violent attack on Iran’s significant facility known as the South Pars gas field,” Trump remarked. He noted that only a small part of the total facility was impacted and again stressed that the United States did not foresee this attack and that Qatar had no part in it.

He continued, “Unfortunately, Iran didn’t grasp the circumstances surrounding the attack on South Pars, leading it to retaliate against Qatar’s LNG facilities.” Trump warned that there would be no more Israeli attacks on the vital South Pars field unless Iran made the ill-advised choice to target Qatar. In that scenario, he suggested, the United States would respond with overwhelming force, causing unprecedented destruction to the gas field.

It has been reported that Israel conducted airstrikes on “facilities related to Iran’s gas and oil industries,” as confirmed by sources in The Jerusalem Post. The South Pars gas field is recognized for having the world’s largest natural gas reserves.

On Wednesday, facilities linked to Iran’s energy sector in South Pars and Asaruyeh were reportedly targeted by Israeli airstrikes.

While Trump stated that the U.S. had no prior knowledge of the attack, unnamed Israeli officials indicated that “the attack was carried out in coordination with the United States.”

In the wake of these events, a commander from the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Alireza Tansiri, issued a warning, declaring that oil facilities connected to the U.S. were now considered equal to U.S. military bases and would be attacked with full force.
