In the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, armed gunmen affiliated with the Cartel del Noreste kidnapped eight workers as they made their way to a ranch in the town of China. This event underscores the growing violence linked to the Los Zetas terrorist organization.
The situation unfolded earlier this week when a group of workers left General Teran en route to their jobs. During their journey, they were abducted by armed individuals. Their families didn’t receive any ransom demands and reported the incident to the authorities the following day. Interestingly, just days before, three more men had gone missing in a similar manner near China.
On Wednesday morning, law enforcement in Nuevo León initiated search efforts around China and successfully located seven of the eight kidnapped individuals. Officials stated they were still on the lookout for the remaining person.
Sources indicated that the rescued men exhibited signs of torture and dehydration but are expected to make a full recovery.
This region has witnessed a sharp rise in violence in recent times, primarily due to the CDN-Los Zetas group’s attempts to seize control of drug trafficking routes leading to the northern border. Reports suggest that the armed group has established barricades and deployed kidnappers throughout the rural areas of Nuevo Leon. They operate from Tamaulipas, making it challenging for local military forces to take action against them. The CDN-Los Zetas organization has continued its activities largely unchecked, thanks to a lack of effective response from the federal government in Mexico.
