Carville Compares Support for Platner to WWII Alliances

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville recently drew an eye-catching comparison while expressing his support for Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, likening it to the United States’ alliance with Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin during World War II.

Carville acknowledged Platner’s military background and said, “He’s a little eccentric, he’s been through a lot, and he even works as an oysterman.” Addressing Platner’s opponent, Susan Collins, he remarked, “She can barely mention her name without exuding contempt. It’s like her spine is made of Maine blueberry jelly.” He suggested that what the Senate needs is representation from “crazy veterans.”

“If you agree with me that our country is in imminent danger, who’s better suited to tackle this—Susan ‘Blueberry Jerry’ Collins, or the more unconventional Graham Platner?” Carville posed the question. “I think we know the answer.”

Carville didn’t shy away from controversial topics. He brought up Platner’s past tattoos and scandals, which include allegations of inappropriate conduct toward women and a notorious tattoo reminiscent of the Nazi SS insignia. Platner’s ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Fifield, shared her perspective on the tattoo, stating that it was chosen because of its sinister implications, contradicting Platner’s claim of ignorance about its origins. Platner has strongly denied these allegations, asserting that they come from a politically motivated source.

Carville responded to criticisms of Platner’s behavior, stating, “I mean, it’s natural, right? A boy reaches for a girl’s hand, she pulls away, and he feels rejected. That’s just life.” He further defended Platner, claiming the scrutiny faced by the candidate seemed disproportionate compared to the current political climate.

Reflecting on the gravity of political actions, he quoted Lincoln in discussing tough decisions made during wartime, suggesting that the stakes are high. He added, “We need to think seriously about who we send our young men to fight.”

As for the controversies surrounding tattoos, Carville had a casual take, saying, “People have regrets; tattoos can be a messy affair.”

Although Fox News Digital reached out to both Collins and Platner for comment, there has been no immediate response.
