West Virginia Man Charged for Threats Against Trump and ICE Agents
A West Virginia man has acknowledged making threats against President Donald Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia.
This year, an indictment revealed that Kodi Lee Smith allegedly threatened to both rape and kill President Trump, in addition to threatening Trump supporters and ICE agents. He is facing up to five years in prison for threatening the President and up to ten years for threatening ICE personnel, according to a news release issued on Thursday.
Details of the Allegations
The indictment outlines several graphic threats made by Smith, which frighteningly included remarks referencing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Documents indicate that Smith directly messaged Donald Trump Jr. on Instagram with a disturbing declaration, saying, “I’m going to rape your worthless father, and when I’m done, you’re going to be raped while Benjamin Netanyahu sits on his oval throne and watches.” Such threats are quite shocking and not something you often see.
Further Threatening Behavior
Additionally, Smith reportedly stated in another post: “I don’t care if I see one Trump supporter… I don’t care about their age or mental state. I’ll kill them in front of their families.” This is a sentiment of outright hostility and aggression that strikes a chord with many.
Moreover, the indictment suggests that he called the ICE tip line and expressed intentions to kill not just ICE agents but also those responding to the tip line and their families in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Conclusion
The unsettling nature of these threats brings up numerous concerns about safety and vigilantism. Smith’s outspoken and aggressive declarations indicate a troubling mindset. With the legal proceedings now set in motion, it’ll be interesting to see how this case unfolds.
