Residents of Florida were shocked when a boy's body was discovered in a dumpster by construction workers who noticed a strange odor while dumping debris.
Infinity Roofing workers made the gruesome discovery around 8 a.m. Monday in a dumpster outside an apartment complex on Rodman Street in Hollywood. The Sun Sentinel reported.
Company officials contacted police in a 911 call released Tuesday.
“At one of my jobs, a roofing company, we found a child in a trash can. It was a child, it was a child, and it was a human being,” the man said in a chilling phone call. .
“My crew arrived on scene at the beginning of the day. As they were about to throw trash in the dumpster, they noticed a child inside and called me. “I'm not on site,” he says.

When asked how old the child appeared to be, the worker said he did not know.
“We don't know if it's a boy or a girl, but it's a small child,” the caller added.
David Vasquez, the worker who discovered the body, said he saw a blue shopping bag at the dump and “saw a strange smell.” CBS News reported.
“I went to open the bag. When I opened the bag, I saw the baby, and the baby was already not breathing,” Vasquez told the outlet, adding that the toddler looked like a newborn and that the bag was empty. added that they believe it was placed there over the weekend.
Eugene Yakimiu, a local resident, called it “stomach-wrenching.”
“I've been here 40 years. I never, never, ever, we've never experienced anything like this. “I don't know, but it's shocking and it's disgusting,” Yakimiu said. told CBS News.
“It's unbelievable. If people don't want the baby, they give it to the firefighters or they give it to the hospital,” Roger Cote, who also lives in the area, told the publication.
He said the trash can had been there for several weeks.
“They change it every once in a while. I've been here 12 years and this is the first time I've heard something like this,” Cote said. “It certainly hurts. (Some) people try to make babies, but they can't make babies, they can't get pregnant. They could have put it up for adoption. .”
Jessica Gault, a therapist next door, wondered what could have caused someone to abandon their child.
“I wonder what this has to do with the way abortion laws are written,” she told CBS News. “Are we going to see more of this? Are there any girls out there who are scared and don’t know what to do?
A Florida law promoted by the Miami-based group A Safe Haven allows parents to hand over newborn babies to firefighters or hospital staff without giving their names.
While an autopsy determines the baby's cause of death, homicide detectives continue to investigate.
