Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Tuesday called former President Trump “unfazed” and said Trump “doesn’t deserve to be president” if he continues to attack U.S. military personnel. It is also being expanded overseas.
“When he steps away from the teleprompter, he doesn’t move at all,” Haley said of Trump. Interview on “The Hugh Hewitt Show”.
“And everyone can say whatever they want in terms of, ‘Oh, he was a great president.'”
But, she continued, “An unstable president is a dangerous president. And if you’re talking about the people who served us, you don’t deserve to be president.”
At a rally in South Carolina over the weekend, President Trump went after Haley’s husband, Maj. Michael Haley, who is serving overseas in the South Carolina Army National Guard on a year-long tour of duty in the Horn of Africa. He is assigned to the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade as a staff officer.
Trump asked the audience why Haley’s husband was not accompanying her on the campaign trail.
“What happened to her husband?” Trump said at a campaign event. “Where is he? He’s gone. He knew. He knew.”
Ms. Haley has used Mr. Trump’s attacks as an opportunity to remind voters of Mr. Trump’s controversial past comments about military personnel and veterans. She made similar remarks in an interview with Hewitt, saying the former president’s recent attacks were evidence of a “pattern.”
“This is about all military families who have made sacrifices and who know what it’s like to have a loved one deployed. And this is about Donald Trump’s pattern. I mean, he’s previously He also called military personnel suckers and losers. We know that when he was at Arlington Cemetery, he said, “What’s in it for them?” He has never even come close to his military uniform. ”
“And for him to go and mock my husband and the men and women of the military shows how disconnected he is from sacrifice and what these men and women do every day. They don’t do it because they care, they don’t think of themselves.” They do it for fun, but because they know that freedom isn’t free. And they are willing to shed blood for it. And the idea that he would take something like this lightly is why we continue to have issues with him,” she continued.
“For our nation’s military, there is no greater warrior than President Trump,” Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan said in an earlier statement to The Hill.
“Nikki Haley likes to talk about her foreign policy chops, but she loves advocating forever war by bowing to China and sending our troops into unnecessary conflicts. It represents America’s last policy,” Chan continued.
