Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) said Thursday on CNN’s “The Read” that the United States should not send additional aid to Israel while children are starving to death in Gaza.
“The bottom line is that we are witnessing one of the worst humanitarian disasters we’ve seen in a very long time,” Sanders said. “Because Israel is not allowing humanitarian trucks into Gaza. Literally at this moment, we are watching hundreds of thousands of children starve to death, especially in areas where people are in the most desperate situations. Israel should not get any more military aid until there is a fundamental change in policy. So when children in Gaza are starving, in my opinion we should stop giving military aid to Israel. think.”
He added: “Our job is to make sure that American taxpayers do not allow Prime Minister Netanyahu’s military machine to join us in killing innocent people and causing mass starvation.” . I think the people of Israel need to understand. I am pro-Israel and support Israel, but they cannot continue to wage this immoral war against innocent people and expect US taxpayers to support them. It has to end now. We must move to a two-state solution. ”
