New York man arrested by arson bomb squad for giving 11-year-old son fireworks that set houses on fire

A New York man was arrested by an arson and bomb squad after he allegedly gave his 11-year-old son fireworks that set two homes on fire, authorities said.

be press release Officers from the Nassau County Police Department were dispatched to a report of a house fire in Levittown, New York at approximately 8:50 a.m. on July 4th.

Police determined that the 33-year-old father gave his 11-year-old son a firework and told him to light it – it is believed to have malfunctioned and travelled into a nearby shed, igniting the fire.

The Long Island fire quickly spread to the defendant’s home and then to a neighboring home.

The Nassau County Arson and Bomb Squad was also called to the scene and arrested Karamjit Singh without incident.

Singh was charged with second-degree arson, fourth-degree manslaughter, illegal sale of fireworks to a person under the age of 18, illegal possession of fireworks and endangering the welfare of a child.

Singh pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released without bail on Friday.

Singh’s son has reportedly been handed over to his family.

The Nassau County Fire Department has launched an investigation into the fireworks incident.
