It has emerged that the left-leaning publication Mediaite blatantly distorted the transcript of an interview that current Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) gave on MSNBC several years ago in an attempt to interfere with the process of selecting former President Donald Trump as his vice presidential candidate.
Left-wing anti-Trump publications Ran As part of a last-ditch effort by globalists to block Vance from being selected as Trump’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election, a headline on Wednesday read “J.D. Vance says he believes Trump’s sexual assault accusers in unearthed interview,” which, if true, will surely attract attention within the Trump campaign.
The problem with Mediaite’s headline and the article it covers is that it doesn’t accurately reflect what Vance said in a 2016 interview with then-MSNBC host Chris Matthews.
Actual transcript of MSNBC interview from October 12, 2016 Hardball The show has hardly been “discovered” since it’s literally on the MSNBC website for anyone to find, but that’s beside the point. show Matthews played a clip of Jessica Leeds, a woman who accused Trump of groping her, and asked Vance to respond.
Matthews’ question is: “What do you think about this? It’s an interesting throwback in some ways because we started off calling them stewardesses. They were flight attendants. It gives us a sense of history. But this woman is not a braggart. She’s just telling us what happened so that we know.”
Vance’s exact response was: “Yeah, yeah. And I think it’s fundamentally a he said, she said kind of thing. At the end of the day, do you believe Donald Trump, who always tells the truth? I’m kidding. Or do you believe a woman who’s on tape? And I…”
That was the end of the exchange. Vance said this was literally a “he said, she said” disagreement and questioned who should be believed: Trump or Leeds.
Vance’s claims, for whatever their value, were far more pro-Trump than most MSNBC guests at the time, even though he was still a Trump critic at the time. His transformation from critic to strong Trump supporter is a well-known story, but the idea that he believed his accusers, as Media It asserted in this headline, is simply not true, since he never said so.
What’s particularly interesting is, first, that the article’s author, Colby Hall, did not solicit Vance’s team for comment on the article in advance, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. Hall did not even include a video of the interview in the article, although a transcript of the article is available on MSNBC’s website. This misinterpretation of Vance’s comments is a significant development. Moreover, in private conversations with Vance’s staff after the article was published, Hall acknowledged that the headline did not tell the whole story. According to communications reviewed by Breitbart News, Hall said that he was literally “guessing” what Vance intended with the headline of this article, not simply taking Vance’s exact words.
This is just the latest in a long line of examples of the media establishment desperately trying to block Trump from selecting Vance as his running mate in recent weeks. New York Post Editorial Board and The Wall Street Journal The editorial board attacked Vance and recommended other candidates.
