The Mets are short on starting pitchers and are looking for a pitcher, so they are keeping their eye on the former Yankee.
The team has inquired about Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported Sunday.
The 32-year-old Taillon has been in good form this season, posting a 2.96 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 100 1/3 innings.
problem?
As Heyman noted, the Cubs may not move Taillon, who has two years remaining on his contract after this season.
The Mets have also been linked to White Sox starting pitcher Erick Fedde.
President of baseball operations David Stearns has been busy the past few days, acquiring relief pitcher Ryne Stanek and outfielder Jesse Winker in trades.
But with pitchers Kodai Senga and Christian Scott sidelined with injuries last week, the Mets are looking for starting pitcher to help improve their playoff chances.

For now, Tyler Megill has been in the rotation, but that may not last long.
The Mets currently occupy the third wild card spot in the National League, just half a game behind the Braves and Padres, who are competing for first place.
