Vice President Kamala Harris appeared stumped when asked how she would lower the cost of living as president, saying during a Q&A with Oprah Winfrey that she would do it by “lowering the prices of everyday items,” even though the prices of many basic goods, including food, have skyrocketed under her leadership.
“We'd love to know what your plans are to lower the cost of living,” they asked Harris, but he ignored the question and immediately began listing off a list of phrases.
Your story is a story I hear as I travel across the country, and we need to address that, both in terms of our right to aspirations and dreams and ambitions for our families, in terms of working hard, and in terms of realizing that the American Dream is much more elusive for this generation and many more recent generations than it was in the past.
There are “several ways” to do that, Harris argued.
Harris said she would first lower the cost of living by lowering the prices of essential goods.
“One is to lower the prices of everyday items, including groceries,” she said, without mentioning the fact that food prices have increased 22% since she and President Joe Biden took office in January 2021. The price of basic necessities like eggs has increased by a whopping 147% since she took office.
Harris once again appears to be promoting the false claim that price gouging is to blame for rising food prices.
“We need accountability,” Harris said.
A recent poll by prominent economists at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Found Almost no economists supported the idea that unfair price fixing has caused food prices to rise: 74% agreed or strongly agreed that “there is little empirical evidence that unfair price fixing has caused food prices to rise.” Only 2% disagreed, and no economists strongly disagreed.

Harris also cited her personal background – her mother worked hard to buy a home – and said her administration must address the issue of homeownership.
“We actually grew up in an apartment above a daycare center for a long time, owned by a woman who we called our second mother, a small business owner who helped my mother with childcare,” Harris says, without mentioning that she grew up in Westmount, Ont. “That's where she lived at the time. The nicest neighborhood In Montreal The wealthiest As Breitbart News detailed, “It was a single incident in the entirety of Canada, a far cry from the 'street' fighting that Harris now claims to support.”
“We should give people the opportunity to do that,” Harris said of home buying. “That's why part of my plan is to provide first-time homebuyers with $25,000 in down payment assistance for their first home, because we just need people to be able to buy a home in the first place, and then it's just the hard work after that.”
Harris did not mention that her open border policies, which allowed legal and illegal immigrants into the country, have created a housing crisis that is hurting Americans across the country. Rents alone have risen 22% since Harris took office in January 2021.
Harris also said she plans to give small businesses a $50,000 start-up tax credit, before adding, “That's part of my business plan.”
Harris made no mention of the economic realities facing Americans under her leadership, including the fact that gasoline prices have increased by 50%, electricity prices by 32% and auto insurance rates by 55% since she took office in January 2021. It is not surprising that Harris did not blame rising prices in the United States on the Biden-Harris Administration's policies that have driven up the prices of everyday items, such as the so-called Beat Inflation Act, green energy initiatives, pro-immigration and open border policies.
