These days, the well-being of Americans seems to be at the bottom of the government's priority list. Foreign wars and the millions of illegal immigrants who have invaded our country have siphoned off billions of U.S. dollars and left poor Americans in a state of despair.
The latest example of this includes the victims of Hurricane Helen. FEMA claims it has run out of money. It appeared a week after the storm hit the coastline. And they gave a pitiful $750 to a family who lost everything, even though they gave illegal immigrants far more than that. There is also a report that FEMA is actively thwarting private sector efforts To fill the gap.
What gives? Why does the plight of Americans seem to be facing hostility from emergency services?
Amy Reporter, a policy expert on advancing the federalization of emergency management in the United States, recently spoke with Matt Kibe about this issue. Her view is that the public has a mistaken belief that the federal government is ready to respond when disaster strikes.
There are many reasons for this, but there is one in particular that Amy says is problematic. That's because the state hasn't passed a Guard Protection Act.
“We have personnel with the training and capabilities to respond to disasters in many states, and half the time they are deployed to the Middle East,” she told Kibbe, noting that she did not pass a defense bill. He pointed to the Tennessee state legislature. The Security Act prohibits the sending of the National Guard overseas unless Congress formally declares war.
The day before Helen hit, the Tennessee National Guard was deployed to Kuwait and was unable to assist hurricane victims.
“The Guard Defense Act has been introduced in 30 Congresses and passed in three states, but only three Congresses passed it,” Amy explained, adding that what we really need is a “brave defense bill.” state,” he added.
“I think all it takes is one state to take this seriously and get it passed in both chambers, which is probably Tennessee. And I think there will be a domino effect of other brave states.” she says.
