A recently released CBS/YouGov poll found that many Americans believe President-elect Donald Trump will lower the cost of groceries and groceries.
investigation revealed 44% believe Trump will “lower” food and grocery prices. A further 35% believe it will rise, and 21% say it will remain the same.
In other words, as CBS News puts it, there is “genuine optimism” about the impact Trump and his incoming administration will have on food prices. This comes after the economy has repeatedly emerged as a top issue ahead of presidential elections.
The survey also found that registered voters already have a more positive view of the economy post-election. Only 36% of respondents rated the economy as “good” in October. Now, that number has risen to 42%.

The share of Republicans who rate the U.S. economy as good, although still low, has increased, while the share who rate it as very bad has fallen. This resulted in voters' overall assessment of the economy being slightly higher than this year. High partisanship attracts even more attentionalong with optimism, always influences these ratings.
The entire study was conducted among 2,232 U.S. adults from November 19 to 22, 2024. There is a margin of error of +/- 2.3%.
This is consistent with recent research. economist/YouGov: 37 percent admit their Thanksgiving plans will be affected by rising prices.

Forty-seven percent of Republicans said their plans would be affected by rising prices, and 35% of independents said the same. Three in 10 Democrats (29%) also acknowledged that their Thanksgiving plans have been affected by rising prices. But 47% of Democrats say it won't affect their plans, a sentiment shared by 32% of independents and 30% of Republicans.
Remarkably, a quarter of Vice President Kamala Harris' voters admit that rising prices are affecting their vacation plans. 48% of those who voted for President Trump also held the same opinion.
All of these realities are consistent with Pew Research's research. showing Fifty-three percent say they support President Trump's plans for the country.
