RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star Peppermint Pushes Transgender Procedures for Children During CNN Panel

Trans drag queen and former star known as 'Peppermint' rupaul's drag race — appeared on a recent CNN panel to make an argument in support of transgender procedures for minors, declaring that lawmakers should have no say on the controversial topic.

On Wednesday, Peppermint appeared on CNN's “Newsnight with Abby Phillips” with fellow trans activist Shane Diamond, who represents GLAAD, on behalf of sex-changing drugs and minors who believe they are transgender. Discussed a U.S. Supreme Court case concerning a Tennessee law prohibiting legal proceedings. .

Peppermint and Shane Diamond deploy a number of euphemisms to make their point, describing irreversible and experimental transgender procedures as “health care” and even naming puberty blockers. was renamed the adolescent “delayed person.” They also claimed that the issue had been scientifically resolved, although Western European countries had recently revised their positions.

“I don't think lawmakers should be the arbiters of people's health care. It should be a decision between the patient and the doctor,” Peppermint said, later adding. “I don't think being transgender or seeking medical care is politicized. I think it's been largely politicized by the right to create these kinds of conversations and create wedges.”

Later, Shane Diamond used the term adolescent “retarded.” This is a rebranding of “puberty blockers,” controversial experimental drugs that come with potential long-term risks, including mental illness, weakened bones and, in some cases, infertility.

“This is a delay. This is completely reversible,” Diamond insisted, although some studies have shown that it is not.

Peppermint is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the debate surrounding the Supreme Court case. Others include Hollywood stars Annette Bening and Elliot Page (ex-Ellen Page).

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision on the Tennessee case in 2025.
