A Border Patrol union official said former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (R-Hawaii) is “qualified” to be the next Director of National Intelligence.
The National Border Patrol Council's (NBPC) support was conveyed to the Daily Wire in a letter to Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) on Tuesday. reported Cotton noted Wednesday that he will be the next chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The news comes after President-elect Donald Trump nominated Gabbard to be director of national intelligence after expressing public support for her in November, according to Breitbart News.

“For more than 20 years, Mr. Tulsi has fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans,” President Trump said in a statement regarding the nomination.
The NBPC letter obtained by Wire reads:
On behalf of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), I am writing to express my complete and utter support for President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of former U.S. Representative and Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard to be Director of National Intelligence. I will write We have no doubt that Lt. Col. Gabbard is the right person to serve as DNI and will work tirelessly to keep our nation safe, just as she has for the past 20 years.

The U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), led by the DNI, plays a critical role in border security by monitoring the potential entry of these threats into our nation. From transnational criminal organizations operating in North, Central, and South America to foreign terrorist organizations and hostile state actors, these organizations and individuals regularly exploit unsafe borders to carry out activities that threaten the American people. I'm trying to take it further.
To adequately counter these threats, the IC must have strong, courageous, and capable leadership. Its leader is Lt. Col. Gabbard.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said in a social media post Wednesday: I wrote“Tulsi Gabbard's support for Director of National Intelligence continues to grow.”
“There is no question that she is the leader our country needs to restore safety and security,” Blackburn added.
According to Breitbart News, Gabbard announced her joining the Republican Party during a Trump rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, in October.
She said: “I join the People's Party, the Equality Party, the party that was founded to fight and end slavery in this country. It is the party of common sense, the courage and courage to fight for peace. This is a party led by a strong president.”
