National Border Patrol Council gives endorsement to Tulsi Gabbard for DNI nomination

The National Border Patrol Council has officially endorsed former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Alaska), the incoming Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, received a letter of support from the NBPC on Thursday. Major homeland security allies gave Gabbard two thumbs up. According to Daily Wire.

“On behalf of the National Border Patrol Council, I am writing to express our complete and utter support for President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for Director of National Intelligence, former U.S. Congresswoman Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard,” the letter obtained by the newspaper read. “Write.” Read on the wire.

“We have no doubt that Lt. Col. Gabbard is the right person to serve as DNI and will continue to work tirelessly to keep our nation safe, as she has for the past 20 years.” continues.

The letter argued that Ms. Gabbard's military service adequately communicates that she understands the importance of the threats to the country that the DNI is expected to address.

Unions touted the threat posed by the country's porous southern border.

“The U.S. intelligence community, led by the DNI, plays a critical role in border security by monitoring the potential entry of these threats into our country,” the union wrote.

“From transnational criminal organizations operating in North, Central and South America to foreign terrorist organizations and hostile state actors, these organizations and individuals constantly seek to take advantage of our security. [sic] They crossed the border to further their activities that threaten the American people,” the endorsement continued.

This isn't the only high-profile endorsement Gabbard has received.

Former CIA Counterterrorism Director Bernard Hudson gave his full support to President Trump's candidacy in a National Review editorial published last week.

“She has the experience, temperament, and professional integrity to restore confidence in the U.S. intelligence community,” Hudson wrote.

Gabbard, 43, only recently registered as a Republican and was one of Trump's first nominees after winning the November election.

President Trump said of Tulsi, “I know that Mr. Tulsi will bring to our nation's intelligence services the fearlessness that has defined his distinguished career, defending constitutional rights and ensuring peace through force.'' I know,” he said.

Gabbard frequently tripped up Trump in the final stages of the 2024 election cycle, and at a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, in October, she voiced her support for the former and future president.

The four-term Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020 after her own bid for the party's nomination failed.
