President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday refused to wish federal death row inmates a Merry Christmas after they were pardoned by President Biden, telling them to “go to hell.”
“[T]“Thirty-seven of the most heinous criminals murdered, raped, and looted like no one before, and yet, unbelievably, they were just pardoned by Sleepy Joe Biden,'' Trump said. the president wrote on Truth Social.
“I'm not going to wish those lucky 'souls' a Merry Christmas, but instead I'm going to say, 'Go to hell!'” he added.
Biden, 82, on Monday commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 federal death row inmates. The list includes at least five child murderers and several mass murderers.
According to the White House, the lame-duck president activated a moratorium that reduces prisoners' sentences to life in prison without parole as part of an effort to “ensure a fair and effective justice system.”
The 78-year-old president also targeted China, Canada and “radical left lunatics” in his Christmas message, reiterating his support for U.S. control of the Panama Canal and Greenland.
“Merry Christmas to everyone, including the great Chinese soldiers who lovingly but illegally operated the Panama Canal (110 years ago, 38,000 people died while building it). We always make sure that the United States is spending billions of dollars on “repairs,'' but we never say anything about “something.'' the president wrote.
