Numerous protesters carried out the Nelken line. This is a dance involving performers walking one file line in honor of the season and making synchronized movements.

“It was symbolic in that we were all moving at once,” said dancer Kelly King, who organized the protest. I said NPR. “And there's something convincing to see the straight lines of the movers dancing like this on the march.”

The protest comes in response to changes in leadership at the Kennedy Center, which receives several federal funds, despite operating under a private public partnership.

Last week, President Trump became chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts, following the firing of Center President Deborah Lutter.

“It's a great honor to be Chairman of the Kennedy Center, especially with this incredible council meeting. It makes the Kennedy Center a very special and exciting place!” President Trump It has been declared In a true social post.

Meanwhile, Trump's aide and former German ambassador Richard Grenell were tapped to serve as interim president of the Kennedy Center, but took the day to X, and the organization now has “zero” cash. It has been revealed that it has a “zero” reserve.

“Today, the Kennedy Center CFO explained its financial situation,” Grenell said. “She told me she had zero cash in her hand. Zero of the reserve. And the postponed maintenance is a crisis. Over the past few months they've been digging into their debt reserves.”

“We need to fix this amazing institution,” Grenell added. “People who work hard at the nation's best performing arts centers deserve better, and so do all Americans.”

King told NPR that he fears diversity at the Kennedy Center will not continue under the Trump administration.

“No changes have been made to the center's dance programming, nor are changes planned,” a Kennedy Center spokesman told the outlet.

Protesters also pointed out that several security guards followed the dancers as they were moving around the Kennedy Center, but no one tried to stop the demonstration.

“They didn't know what they were going to encounter with us,” King told NPR. “And when I spoke to them individually and they saw what we were doing, they realized we were certainly not a threat.”

“I think they were probably entertained at the end,” she added.
