A New Mexico man faces federal attack charges in two incidents, including calling border patrol agents “traitors” and violent attacks in a small border town.
He was eating lunch on February 11th at Santa Teresa's Love Truck Stop, crossing the border from Juarez, Mexico, when 28-year-old Andrew Josiah Segura walked and called him a “traitor.”
A week after the truck halt incident, Segura was reportedly yelling at two other uniformed agents at the post office, attacking one, and in a violent brawl where the agent left a bruise in his arm.
Prosecutors allege that a pair of agents collected emails for the office as Segura approached, calling them both traitors, then read one agent's name from the documents he had filled out and said, “You better look at your back.”
After a post office employee left at Segura, he ran around the building several times in his car, before walking around with his hands in his pockets as if he was holding a gun, an eyewitness told investigators.
“Segura entered the post office for the second time. [the agent] He tried to eliminate the situation by reaching out to shake Segura's hand as a gesture of peace. [him]According to a court complaint
The subsequent brawl left a bruise in the agent's arm, prosecutors said.
Segura is said to have fled the scene when he heard him approach a police siren.

Witnesses said that both attacks appeared unprovoked and that Segura appears to be specifically targeting CBP agents.
Segura faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of an attack.
