The Florida home voted against the plan after Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed a golf course, pickleball court and other recreational opportunities in Florida State Park last summer.
The vote was 115-0 on Wednesday’s measure and now goes to the Senate, with similar bills passing the committee.
Supporters last year spoke of public opinion and protest against what DeSantis called. Amazing Outdoor Identity Initiative It was a key factor in the subsequent decision that the governor would shelved it.

“I think we were all shocked to hear what they were trying to do in our precious state parks,” said Rep. Robin Bartleman of D-Weston. via wusf. “This responds directly to that plan and directly to what our members wanted us.”
“Popular protests, you can probably hear it all the way to the moon and Mars,” said Rep. Lindsay Cross, a Democrat from St. Petersburg who attended several protests. She added that the bill “confirms that our wild Florida remains wild.”

The Florida Attorney General says he works to make his state the safest place to raise his family.
House staff analysis shows that projects that support activities such as hiking, swimming, horse riding, boating and nature research are permitted to be developed in the park, but all projects must be “conservation-based recreational use.”
“Use or construction activities should be carried out in a way that avoids impact on the key state park habitats and natural and historical resources,” the analysis added.
Desantis’ Environmental Protection Agency proposed a plan last summer, but opposition protested and many have been repealed. Immediately after the proposal, DeSantis walked the pitch and the plan was “Back to the drawing.”

“Our state parks are valuable,” said Democrat Rep. Allison Tanto. “We have a state park that represents real Florida.”
