Kennedy Center Director Criticizes ‘Les Misérables’ Actors as ‘Shallow and Intolerant’ for Discussing Boycott over Trump

A group of actors at the Kennedy Center is expressing their strong discontent over President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit, showing what some might call a lack of tolerance.

Reports indicate that 10 out of the 12 actors from the touring group of Les Misérables are planning to boycott the performance in D.C. where Trump is expected to be present next month.

Kennedy Center Director Richard Grenell addressed these concerns, suggesting that the Republican president’s presence might clash with the performers’ values.

“We haven’t heard of this rumor,” Grenell stated, adding that “the Kennedy Center no longer funds intolerance.”

He emphasized that any artistic endeavors that convey political statements will not be welcomed.

Performers who aren’t professional enough to perform for audiences of all political backgrounds are unwelcome here. It’s crucial to know which artists embrace intolerance, as it informs future hiring decisions for producers.

The Kennedy Center aspires to be a venue where individuals from all political perspectives can enjoy performances without questioning one another’s voting choices.

According to Breitbart News, Grenell was appointed as the interim director of the Kennedy Center earlier this year after a leadership change that occurred when Trump took over as board chair.

Many artists have declared they will not return in response to Trump’s involvement.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared his intention to return to the Kennedy Center, referring to it as “an American gem” and stating that it should showcase the “brightest star on that stage.”
