Iran is open to discussing ways to reduce tensions with Israel, according to Trump at the G7.

During a G7 meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister, Iran indicated it “wants to talk” about the ongoing conflict with Israel. President Trump responded to questions about this, suggesting that Iran had missed opportunities for dialogue in the past. He stated, “Iran hasn’t won this war, and they should talk about it before it’s too late.”

His remarks come amid escalating missile exchanges between Israel and Iran, which began last week when Israel struck key military targets within Iran. Trump emphasized that he had previously given Iran a 60-day window to negotiate a new nuclear deal, which he believes is critical to de-escalating tensions. He recounted how, after the deadline, Iran indicated there were no deals to be made, which he found concerning.

At least eight fatalities and numerous injuries have been reported in Israel due to recent Iranian missile strikes. When pressed about possible U.S. military involvement, Trump was reticent, stating, “I don’t want to talk about it.” He reassured that U.S. support for Israel has been strong and will continue amidst the conflict.

Reports from Middle Eastern and European officials suggest that Iran has communicated a willingness to negotiate through Arab intermediaries, provided the U.S. refrains from joining Israel’s military actions.
