Trump's Campaign Team Creates PAC to Challenge Rep. Thomas Massie in the Primaries

Tensions are rising between President Donald Trump and Representative Thomas Massey (R-KY), with Trump labeling Kentucky House members “ass,” while his campaign team establishes a Political Action Committee (PAC) focused on this conflict.

Recently, after Massey sided with Democrats against a military strike on Iran, Trump traveled to Massey’s district to launch a campaign against him. Chris Lacivita, a co-manager of the Trump campaign, along with prominent pollster Tony Fabrizio, revealed the “Kentucky PAC.”

This Super PAC is aimed at unseating Massey in the May 2026 primary, marking Trump’s first serious attempt at removing a Republican incumbent. This has been confirmed by various reports.

Lacivita responded to these reports over the weekend, stating, “this is FO,” without further context.

In a post on Monday, Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, declaring, “Take this ‘butt’ out of the office and get it as quickly as possible!!!”

Prior to this, on Sunday, Trump remarked that Massey “is not a maga,” despite any claims of support he might show for that movement.

Trump criticized Massey, asserting that the MAGA community neither knows him nor respects him. He characterized Massey as an obstacle who votes against nearly everything regardless of merit, calling him a simple-minded “ancestor.” Trump highlighted Iran’s threats as a major risk, criticizing Massey’s opposition to recent military success as weak and ineffective. He urged his followers to distance themselves from Massey, asserting that there are better candidates in the Republican primary.

Following a U.S. bombing of Iran’s nuclear site, several Democrats, along with Massey, expressed disapproval, questioning the constitutionality of Trump’s actions.

Earlier this month, bipartisan legislation was proposed to limit Trump’s powers regarding military engagement in the Israeli-Iran conflict. Massey stated that such decisions should be made by Congress, not the executive branch.

Key Democrats, including some “squad” members like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib, have expressed their support for the new legislation.

Trump previously signaled his intent to challenge Kentucky’s representatives over their positions, especially after Massey opposed a key Republican bill. He described Massey as an automatic “no” vote for almost every proposal, urging for his primary challenge, and comparing him to former Representative Liz Cheney.

Lacivita joined the online discussion, labeling Massey “Tik Tok Tommy” after the representative indicated he wouldn’t support Trump’s favored legislation.

Massey expressed concern about how his voting record could be influenced by threats to his reelection, suggesting a climate where retribution could affect decision-making.

Massey was one of only two Republicans who rejected last month’s budget extension, arguing it wouldn’t sufficiently address fiscal restraint, with the other dissenting Republican being Representative Warren Davidson from Ohio.
