David Sacks, Trump's AI advisor, calls on Musk to rethink his support for third-party efforts.

David Sacks, who is known as President Trump’s AI and Crypto Czar, recently advised tech mogul Elon Musk to reconsider his plans for a third-party movement. He believes that Musk’s political aspirations could be realized within the Republican Party.

Sacks, a venture capitalist from Silicon Valley, expressed a desire for Musk to mend his relationship with Trump. He stated, “I work for the President, and Elon is a good friend. I hope reconciliation is possible.” This sentiment was shared during his appearance on CNBC’s “Money Movers” on Tuesday.

Musk, who invested nearly $300 million to support Trump’s campaign in the 2024 election, introduced his “American Party” earlier this month. However, Musk has voiced his concerns about Trump’s spending and tax policies, suggesting they may burden citizens with increased debt. The president countered that Musk’s criticism stems from a desire to eliminate incentives for electric vehicles (EVs).

The relationship between Musk and Trump has been tumultuous. Although there were efforts to ease tensions after Musk was appointed to lead a government efficiency initiative several months ago, both have returned to exchanging barbs recently.

Trump has dismissed Musk’s third-party ambitions as “silly.” He remarked on July 6th, “He wants to start a third party despite their historical lack of success in the U.S. It seems like the system isn’t made for them.”
