Corey Burke accused of killing father Timothy Burke with ice ax

Prosecutors alleged last week that a 33-year-old Seattle woman killed her father with an ice ax during an argument over turning off the lights on Election Day.

Corey Burke, who “appeared to be having a mental health crisis,” is accused of killing Timothy Burke, 67, inside his Seattle home last Tuesday around 8 p.m., King County said. prosecutors wrote in charging documents obtained by The Post.

Authorities found Corey emerging from a Rainier Valley home with blood on his face after he allegedly broke a window in the home.

Once inside, police found Timothy's body with injuries to his head and torso, including a 2-inch laceration to his ribcage, documents said.

Another stab wound was near the base of the skull.

A silver and blue ice-climbing pickaxe with blood on it was also found by police.

Corey was sent to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, and the next day he allegedly told investigators that he had killed his father with an ax and strangled him. She also admitted to biting her father while choking him, police said.

“Corey stated that she was 'just freaked out' when her father started arguing with her about the lights being turned off,” according to the documents.

“The defendant told detectives he knew he couldn't convince him to turn off the lights, so he went upstairs to get an ice ax, tripped his father, strangled him with the ax and his hands, bit him, and punched him several times. According to the prosecutor's office's summary of the incident, he was stabbed in the head and side with the blunt, sharp tip of an ice ax.

The daughter was charged with first-degree murder. She is being held in the county jail on $2 million bail, according to court records.

Corley told police she had a troubled relationship with her father and felt “overly focused and confused regarding her own attachment to him,” the documents said.

Court documents say she “appeared to be unfit to care for herself” and was a danger to herself.

Her arraignment is scheduled for November 21st.
