On Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles courthouse scheduled to have singer D4vd’s arraignment received a bomb threat, prompting an evacuation of the building.
An anonymous caller dialed 911 just before 11 a.m. to make threats against the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, as reported by law enforcement officials.
Subsequently, the building’s courtyard was cleared out, with units from both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department dispatched to the location. The LAPD’s bomb squad also arrived, deploying bomb-sniffing dogs to ensure the safety of the premises.
D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, was set to be arraigned that afternoon for the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas.
At a press conference held by Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, it was announced that the singer faces first-degree murder charges with special circumstances attached.
These special circumstances might involve ambush situations, financial motives, and harming witnesses. Prosecutors allege that Burke had invited Rivas to his home in April 2025, but she was never seen again. Tragically, her dismembered body was later discovered in the trunk of Burke’s Tesla in September.
The indictment also states that Burke had a sexual relationship with Rivas from at least September 2023 to September 2024.
Additionally, he faces charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under 14, as well as mutilation of human remains.
Prosecutors suggest that Burke’s actions might have been driven by a fear that their relationship would come to light, ultimately threatening his music career.
