Florida Woman Charged After Stabbing Friend Over Uber Dispute

A Florida woman is facing charges after allegedly stabbing a friend with scissors during an Uber ride. Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, was arrested on Monday night for this shocking incident, which reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over drinking beer in the vehicle.

The pair had taken a rideshare from a Miami hotel to another friend’s house. Along the way, Zamora expressed a desire to have a beer. When the male victim reminded her that drinking alcohol in an Uber was not allowed, she became visibly upset.

According to reports, the victim attempted to explain the rules multiple times, but Zamora’s frustration escalated. In a sudden act, she allegedly pulled out scissors from her purse and stabbed him once in the left bicep and left calf.

As the Uber driver pulled over and exited the vehicle, the victim quickly followed suit and called 911 for help.

Police arrived promptly and took Zamora into custody. The victim was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Zamora now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has been booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

After the incident, it’s noted that Uber has strict guidelines prohibiting alcohol and drug use in their rides, reminding passengers to refrain from bringing open containers into their vehicles.

During a video court appearance on Wednesday, it was revealed that Zamora was already on probation for a prior assault conviction involving a person over 65. With a history that includes multiple assault and battery convictions, as well as tampering with an electronic monitor, her legal troubles seem to be stacking up.

Zamora’s attorney sought to have her transferred to a hospital, but a judge denied this request, noting she needed to address the probation violation first in a separate hearing.

Facing a $7,500 bail, Zamora expressed distress during the proceedings, even as her audio was muted before being escorted away by the court’s bailiffs.

She is scheduled for her next court appearance on August 12 for her arraignment.
