Cocaine and Heroin Seized by Nebraska State Patrol
Troopers apprehended two suspects after discovering around 525 pounds of suspected cocaine and 9.3 grams of suspected heroin in their vehicle, according to the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) on Wednesday.
K9 Gable was instrumental in the drug discovery, with officials highlighting the canine’s critical role in the operation.
In a routine traffic stop on Wednesday morning, a Nebraska state trooper noticed a semi-truck tailgating and pulled it over. During this stop, K9 Gable alerted the officers to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle.
Following Gable’s alert, officers conducted a search and uncovered a significant quantity of suspected cocaine along with some heroin.
The driver, 23-year-old Garappan Gil from Yuba City, California, was arrested and now faces charges related to the possession of a controlled substance and intent to distribute.
This seizure is part of a larger trend, as various law enforcement agencies across the nation have reported major drug busts lately, frequently aided by K9 units. For instance, last month, a K9 from the Florida Highway Patrol helped uncover over 2,000 pounds of marijuana concealed in an RV during another traffic stop.
