Treasury Unveils Gold Coin with Trump’s Image for 250th Anniversary

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced that a gold coin featuring President Donald Trump’s likeness will be produced to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The coin depicts Trump’s portrait and includes the phrases “In God We Trust” and “1776-2026” to honor this significant milestone.

Bessent mentioned on social media, “In commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, @usmint is launching this new $1 gold coin to honor our enduring legacy of freedom and symbol of patriotism.” He added that the coin, featuring Trump, signifies American values and the nation’s pledge to uphold freedom for everyone.

Supporters of the president have expressed joy over the announcement, while critics have reacted with outrage, sharing historical commentary across various platforms.

Left-wing activist Joan Carducci responded, “North Korea called me and said you were doing something embarrassing.” Meanwhile, Senator Maggie Hassan (D.N.H.) remarked, “It’s ridiculous and un-American. The American people deserve a president who focuses on putting money in people’s pockets, not on putting his face on people’s money.”

Republican Representative Thomas Massey from Kentucky stated, “Congratulations. We’ve reached the final stage. Let’s do away with the penny, introduce the nickel, and create a gold coin that nobody can buy. I pity those who will inevitably be duped by scammers selling worthless replicas.”

Boxing promoter Lou DiBella criticized the action, saying, “This is a violation of federal law, you sycophants. This disgraceful, self-centered, orange demagogue is still alive, bringing yet another national shame through the Trump-Epstein regime.”

Martina Navratilova, a former tennis player, simply questioned, “Are you serious???”

Another critic commented, “After two and a half years, you’ll realize you’re just a stain on history.”

The coin, interestingly, contains no actual gold. It will be minted in Philadelphia and is slated for release in the fall.
