America’s Tribute
As part of its coverage for America 250, Breitbart introduces a special section called America’s Tribute. This section showcases original videos contributed by members of Parliament, Cabinet, and Government, all unified by a simple theme: love of country.
In a video for Breitbart News’ American Tribute Project, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) reminisces about his childhood. He reflects on his modest beginnings and how he utilized the opportunities provided by this country to forge his own path.
Scott shared, “What makes our country unique is the freedom and endless opportunity that form the backbone of the American Dream.” He described his upbringing in public housing, detailing his father’s service as a World War II veteran and truck driver, while his mother worked as a store clerk to ensure they had meals on the table.
After finishing high school, Scott enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He later obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a law degree from Southern Methodist University through the GI Bill.
Scott elaborated on how he pursued the “American Dream,” established a business, and even hired his mother.
“Through hard work and commitment, I realized the American dream and now serve as a senator for Florida,” he expressed. Before taking on the role of senator in 2019, he served as Florida’s governor.
“I’m thankful to live in a country that allows individuals to chase the American Dream if they’re willing to put in the effort,” Scott remarked. “It’s important we maintain this opportunity. I strive daily to ensure that children today have the same chances I had growing up. Our nation stands as a symbol of freedom and prosperity worldwide, and I’m eager to commemorate its 250th anniversary.”
The senator wrapped up his message, saying, “God bless you, and thank you.”
Scott also recently noted that the street in front of the Chinese embassy will be renamed to honor Tiananmen Square.
“Thirty-seven years ago, we witnessed the true brutality of the Chinese Communist Party as numerous peaceful protesters were tragically murdered,” Scott stated last month. He pointed out that the CCP has shown no remorse, has never accepted responsibility for this tragic event, and continues to perpetrate serious human rights violations today.
