Three dead, suspect arrested after shooting at Target

Tragic Shooting at Target in Austin

On August 11, 2025, a suspect was detained following a shooting incident outside a Target store in Austin, Texas, that resulted in three fatalities, as reported by local police.

While the identities of the victims and the shooter have not been disclosed, police indicated that the shooter is a 32-year-old man with a noted history of mental health issues.

The chaos began at approximately 2:15 p.m. when the police responded to reports of gunfire at the Target located on Research Boulevard. It appears that the suspect shot someone in the parking lot before stealing their vehicle. This act of violence led to the tragic death of the car’s owner. The shooter then fled the scene but crashed the stolen car shortly after and, perhaps rather recklessly, proceeded to take another vehicle from a nearby dealership.

Authorities located him in South Austin, where law enforcement officers used a Taser to take him into custody, according to Police Chief Lisa Davis.

The victims were discovered in the parking lot. Two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while one was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital, Davis reported.

“This is a very sad day for Austin. This is a very sad day for us all,” said Davis, extending condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.

The Target store issued a statement expressing its sorrow over the incident and pledged to cooperate with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation. They also mentioned their support for the families affected:

“We are devastated by the violence that occurred today at our store in Austin, Texas. Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, our team in Austin, and all those impacted by this tragedy. We are collaborating with law enforcement and are grateful to the first responders who acted quickly at the scene. We will continue to provide support resources, including grief counseling, to our team in the coming days.”

As the investigation unfolds, further updates are expected.
