Trump Vows to Protect Christians, Calling Them ‘the Soul of Our Country’

Former President Donald Trump called on Christian voters to action Thursday in a speech at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, calling Christians the “soul of our country” and vowing to protect them from political persecution.

“They are trying to silence you, demoralize you and keep you out of politics. …But Christians, we cannot stand by and watch this fight,” he said at the warmly received convention. said.

“So today, I come before you as a friend, an ally, a fellow believer, and ask for your help and support and prayers for this country. We need your prayers. …And I give you a simple promise,” President Trump said. “In my first term, I fought harder for Christians than any president ever…and I intend to fight even harder for Christians for four more years,” he vowed.

President Trump calls the persecution of pro-life activists and Christians under President Joe Biden’s administration a “huge abuse of power” and six pro-life activists who peacefully protested at an abortion clinic were recently sentenced. He now faces up to 11 years in prison.

“Under Crooked Joe, pro-life advocates are now being pursued as enemies of the state by the Biden administration. The same Biden Justice Department that dropped charges against Antifa is now killing six pro-life activists here in Tennessee. “They were rounded up and arrested for peacefully protesting outside the clinic, where they were praying and singing hymns, before being removed with strong force,” he said.

“Last month, the protesters were convicted on outrageous charges and now face up to 11 years in prison. …Let’s call these brave Americans persecuted Christians. ”

President Trump said that once he wins the election, he will appoint a special commission to quickly investigate the cases of all “political prisoners unjustly victimized by the Biden administration.”

“Americans of faith are not a threat to our country. Americans of faith are the soul of our country,” he said.

Mr. Trump also cited the following gains for Christians during his administration:

— Protecting the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, teachers, and faith groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor
— Preventing the IRS from using the Johnson Amendment to interfere with pastors’ free speech rights
— Issue guidance clarifying that religious freedom rights are protected in public schools.
— Convene a conference at the United Nations to end religious persecution around the world
— Sign an executive order establishing faith advisors in every federal department.
— appointing nearly 300 federal judges to interpret the law and the Constitution “as written”
— Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett nominated and confirmed
— Revival and expansion of the Mexico City policy
— Becomes first president to attend March of Life rally in Washington, D.C.

“I really think that’s the biggest thing that’s missing in this country. … We’ve got to bring religion back. We’ve got to bring Christianity back into this country.” There was a big cheer from the audience.

“No one will touch the cross of Christ under the Trump administration,” he said, pledging to vigorously defend religious freedom in all its forms.

“We will protect Christians in our schools, our military, our government, and on every airwave. … We will protect God in our public squares,” he said. “Millions of Americans value listening to Christian broadcasts on the go. … We’re not going to abandon you.”

He listed additional actions he would pursue if re-elected in November.

—Creates a new federal task force on combating anti-Christian bias to investigate all forms of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and persecution against Christians in the United States.
— Standing “proudly” with our friend and ally Israel
—Critical Race Theory signs executive order cutting federal funding to schools that push “transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial, sexual, and political content” on children
— Support policies of universal school choice, allowing parents to choose the best public, private, charter, or religious school for their children.
— Helps America’s homeschool families, including allowing 529 education savings accounts to be used completely tax-free for homeschooling expenses up to $10,000 per year per child.
— Shut down the federal Department of Education and bring everything back to the states so they can personalize education.
— To take historic action to defeat the venom of gender ideology and restore “the timeless truth that God created two genders, male and female.”
— Keeping men away from women’s sports
— All 50 states sign legislation banning sexual mutilation of children

President Trump also criticized the Biden administration’s foreign policy for enriching Iran. He recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital, acknowledged Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and touted his record in withdrawing from the “disastrous” Iran nuclear deal. Negotiating the Abraham Accords. He cut off funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, saying the agency “pours billions of taxpayer dollars into Hamas.”

He said he would fight the radical left who “try to tear down crosses where they can and cover them up with the banner of social justice where they can’t.”

He spoke with the state religious broadcaster on “The Word of God, the Love of Christ, [and] Bible story. ”
