Trump Requests Supreme Court to Remove Restrictions on ICE Activity in Los Angeles

Trump’s Team Appeals to Supreme Court on Immigration Enforcement Limits

Representatives for President Donald Trump are seeking intervention from the Supreme Court regarding restrictions on ICE operations, as imposed by immigration judges in Los Angeles and California.

In an emergency application submitted to the Supreme Court, Attorney General D. John Sauer stated that Judge Frimpong’s rulings implemented illegal immigration enforcement in the most populous judicial district. He emphasized that federal agents exercise their judgment and discretion during operations.

Sauer remarked, “Every time, they create a reasonable doubt. No one claims federal agents are the only considerations. Yet, certain factors, whether viewed alone or in combination, can increase the likelihood of someone being here illegally.”

“Currently, as district court orders remain in place, law enforcement in the nation’s most populous areas operates under the threat of judicial scrutiny, complicating the enforcement of federal law, which could be seen as a violation of unlawful barriers,” he commented.

The restrictions were initiated by U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong and received approval from a three-judge panel at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The issues at hand involve four problematic factors pertinent to the Central District of California.

Democrats have voiced support for these restrictions, suggesting they enable businesses to employ low-wage immigrants, potentially at the expense of increasing wages for American workers.

Meanwhile, Trump and his administration are pushing for a transition to a high-tech, high-wage economy, amid ongoing pressure from Democrats and employers advocating for a focus on low-wage jobs.
