Israel offers Palestinians a final chance to escape Gaza City as a large-scale invasion approaches

Israeli forces have issued final evacuation warnings to Palestinians in Gaza City as the military is moving toward a complete siege to combat Hamas, according to officials.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF has secured control of the Netzarim corridor, situated just south of the city. This effectively “divides” the Gaza Strip, leading to orders for civilians to leave the area. The Israeli media has reported on this development.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the impending military action is vital for increasing pressure on Hamas.

Katz stated, “This is the last chance for residents of Gaza who want to move south and isolate Hamas terrorists in Gaza City. We aim to quarantine Hamas and exert full pressure.”

The Defense Minister also remarked that anyone remaining in Gaza City would be labeled as “terrorists and supporters of terrorism.”

Katz mentioned that the IDF is preparing for various scenarios, including efforts to rescue hostages, while a full invasion of Gaza City is underway. This comes despite ongoing discussions intended to reach a peace agreement.

As the siege around Gaza City nears completion, those who haven’t evacuated must navigate IDF checkpoints heading south, according to officials.

The situation has raised alarms regarding humanitarian conditions, with human rights organizations criticizing the forced displacement and lack of protection for those who choose to remain, deeming it a breach of international law.

Reports indicate that the evacuation route is perilous, particularly amidst ongoing Israeli artillery strikes. On Wednesday alone, Gaza’s civil defense agency reported 36 fatalities in the city.

Israel maintains that the invasion is crucial to neutralize the last remaining Hamas battalion and to secure the release of 48 hostages still held.

Moreover, Hamas is facing pressure from Arab leaders to accept a 20-point plan proposed by Trump, amidst escalating conflict over the past two years.

This plan includes calls for an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of all hostages, a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a transitional government led by international bodies.
