Democrat Response to ICE Aimed at Shifting Focus from Trump’s Economic Recovery

Sen. Mullin on ICE Operations and Democratic Opposition

Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) expressed on FNC’s “Hannity” that the Democratic resistance to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities is merely a way to distract from the achievements of President Trump and the Republican members of Congress.

During the discussion, host Sean Hannity highlighted Senator Lindsey Graham’s proposed legislation aimed at banning sanctuary cities and states. He emphasized that these locations are obstructing justice by providing support and benefits to individuals who do not adhere to U.S. laws and sovereignty. Hannity noted the importance of having votes on various issues, including budget cuts and ICE funding.

Mullin responded by stating, “I want to emphasize the progress of the Trump economy. However, the Democrats continue to press this agenda. Honestly, I agree with Lindsay regarding the need to defund sanctuary cities. They shouldn’t qualify as regional hubs, and we should cut off federal assistance to their law enforcement.”

He further commended Graham’s leadership on the matter, quoting Mayor Frey from Minneapolis that if local authorities cannot enforce federal laws, then federal funds should not be provided. Mullin argued for focusing on economic recovery, stating that President Trump is effectively revitalizing the struggling economy. He concluded that the attention on ICE is a tactic by Democrats to divert public focus from the positive initiatives being undertaken by Trump and the Republicans.
