Survey: Large Majority of American Voters Support Trump's Agreement with Iran

A National Survey on U.S.-Iran Agreement

A recent survey conducted by Quantas shows that a significant majority of American voters approve of the preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran.

President Donald Trump signed the memorandum following the G7 meeting at the Palace of Versailles. The agreement to end hostilities was also remotely signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The memorandum outlines a 60-day ceasefire and a framework for negotiations, although finalizing the details will require substantial cooperation in the weeks and months ahead. It calls for “an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts” and notes that “the final agreement confirms the permanent cessation of the war.”

On the U.S. side, the Trump administration is prepared to lift sanctions against Iran, remove the naval blockade, and work with regional partners to create a recovery and economic development plan worth at least $300 billion.

In return, Iran has committed to reopening the Strait of Hormuz and has reaffirmed that it will not develop or procure nuclear weapons.

Many of the commitments have deadlines of 30 to 60 days post-signing of the memorandum. The document states, “The United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran commit to negotiating and reaching a final agreement within a maximum of 60 days, with extensions possible if mutually agreed.”

Data from ship tracking shows that more vessels navigated the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. Concurrently, U.S. gasoline prices dipped just below $4 for the first time in several months, though this is still $1 higher than levels before the U.S. and Israel’s military action against Iran in late February.

According to a poll by Quantas conducted on June 16 and 17, 43% of the 1,000 voters surveyed expressed “strong support” for the memorandum, while 13% showed “somewhat support.”

Trump shared his views on Truth Social, stating: “Oil is leaking, Iran can never have nuclear weapons (the world will be safe!), the stock market is soaring, employment is at a record high, and prices are falling (affordable!). Our country has never been stronger, safer, and more respected. ‘You’re welcome!’ DJT President.”

Interestingly, only 8% and 5% of respondents “strongly” or “somewhat” disagreed with the agreement, respectively. However, overall support for President Trump remains less favorable, with 43% of survey participants approving of him compared to 56% who disapprove.
