Biden Admin’s Secret Border Deal with Mexico Delays Onslaught of Migrant Crossings — 50 Percent Drop in Jan.

The number of migrants apprehended along the southwest border with Mexico in January was down more than 50 percent from the record-breaking December report. 125,000 in January due to President Joe Biden’s decline in approval ratings on the topic of immigration and border security and actions taken by the Mexican government following a meeting between the Mexican president and two members of the Biden administration. Immigration arrests have decreased by more than 1,000 people.

Border Patrol agents assigned to nine border districts in the Southwest apprehended more than 124,000 migrants who crossed the border illegally between ports of entry in January. That’s down more than 50 percent from December’s record-breaking 249,785 immigrant arrests. So far this fiscal year, which began on October 1, 2023, officials along the Southwest border have encountered nearly 754,000 migrants.

Breitbart Texas reached out to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials for information on what caused the sharp drop in migrant concerns in January. CBPs’ only response was to cite a historical trend of decreased anxiety in January.

“Consistent with historical trends and increased enforcement, preliminary numbers show that the number of encounters between ports of entry at the Southwest border decreased by more than 50% in the first two weeks of January,” CBP said. .

The statement ignores efforts within Mexico to round up migrants along Mexico’s northern border and deport them to south-central Mexico. In late December, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Homeland Security visited Mexico and met with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Breitbart News reported.

According to the article, Mexico’s president hinted to a US delegation that he would reduce immigration to the US if President Joe Biden provided more aid and support to Latin American dictators. Reports from Mexico indicate that AMLO wanted to expand aid to Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

The White House said in a joint statement after the December meeting:

Both countries reaffirmed their previous commitments to promote orderly, humane and regular migration. This includes strengthening partnerships to address the root causes of migration, such as poverty, inequality and violence, and for bilateral initiatives for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans. Masu. Continued cooperation will also include continued efforts to disrupt human smuggling, human trafficking, and criminal networks, and to promote legal, rather than irregular, migration routes. The two delegations also agreed on the importance of maintaining and promoting vital bilateral trade across the two countries’ shared borders.

President López Obrador emphasized President Biden’s determination to pursue regular, orderly and safe migration. He stressed the need to invest in ambitious development programs across the entire hemisphere of the Americas, as well as to continue diplomatic and political engagement with all countries in the region. Both delegations highlighted the Biden administration’s ongoing efforts through development assistance and humanitarian assistance, as well as the promotion of new private investment in the region.

Immediately after the meeting and the nondisclosure agreement between Mexico and the United States, Mexican immigration and law enforcement officials rounded up migrants along Mexico’s northern border and deported them to Mexico, according to Breitbart’s Cartel Chronicles. I started taking action.

Mexican law enforcement officials also removed migrants from trains traveling from central Mexico to the northern border.

Efforts in Mexico appear to be having a dramatic impact on border crossings, especially into Texas. Breitbart reported from Mexico that the flow of migrants from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, to Eagle Pass, Texas, had dropped from several thousand people per day to just a fraction by early February.

Officials under U.S. Customs and Border Protection told Breitbart Texas that Mexico’s efforts are not a long-term solution to the problem. “Migrants are simply being delayed in arriving at the U.S. border,” the official said. “Migrants are being moved further south, slowing efforts to reach their goal of applying for asylum in the United States.”

Breitbart Texas reached out to members of Congress and the office of House Speaker Mike Johnson for information about the agreement between Mexico and the United States to reduce immigration. One lawmaker said it was unclear whether the Biden administration would reveal this type of agreement. There appear to be no reports clarifying what the United States has agreed to in exchange for increased crackdowns on Mexico.

Immigrant insecurity in the Del Rio area, which includes hotspot Eagle Pass, fell from more than 71,000 in December to just under 17,000 in January. Similarly, the number of encounters in the Rio Grande Valley and El Paso sectors has decreased significantly.

Immigrant anxiety in the Tucson and San Diego areas also decreased significantly, although not as dramatically.

February’s unrest in the Tucson area appears to have eased into February. In a recent weekly summary by Tucson District Patrol Chief John Modlin, the number of immigrant arrests last week jumped to 13,800, up from 11,300 a week earlier.
